What to expect on the day of Breast Lift surgery
On the day of your Breast Lift surgery at Greensboro Plastic Surgery, Dr. Collier Pace will place you under general anesthesia to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure and may employ various surgical techniques to achieve the best possible results.
During this cosmetic procedure, excess skin and fat are removed from the breast. The nipple and areola are moved to a more youthful, natural position, or resized if needed, and excess skin that was located above the nipple is moved down and reshaped to improve the contour, shape, and firmness of underlying tissue in the breast.
There are three different incision options and these vary based on the amount of incision and lift needed. During your consultation, Dr. Pace will determine the incision that will provide the best results. The more common lifts and incisions include:
- Anchor lift: Dr. Pace will place an incision that runs around the areola, go vertically down the lower breast tissue, and horizontally across the lower breast crease. This is typically used when more intensive lifting is required.
- Donut breast lift: Also called a peri-areolar lift, it involves making a circular incision around the areola. It is also often used to reduce the size of the areola. While this technique is best for women with mild sagging, Dr. Pace’s aesthetic training allows him to perform this surgery on women with more extensive sagging as well.
- Lollipop lift: During a lollipop lift, Dr. Pace makes the incision vertically along your chest wall. It corrects moderate sagging and is a good option for women needing a slight lift.
Breast Lift Recovery
When finished, you will be closely monitored in a recovery area and provided with detailed post-operative instructions for a smooth recovery. It is recommended to bring family or a friend to drive you home as you might have some lingering effects from the sedation.
You’ll be able to go home shortly after your surgery. You will be outfitted with a special support bra to help minimize swelling during your initial recovery. Similar to our breast augmentation post-op, we recommend you take it slow for a few days and arrange time off work to allow for healing.
Expect to avoid strenuous activities, including exercise, for up to six weeks post-surgery. Typically, our breast lift patients enjoy their enhanced breast shape and contour for many years afterward. However, your breasts will continue to change due to the natural aging process, pregnancy, or weight fluctuations.
