What to expect on the day of a Dermal Filler treatment
On the day of your appointment, you will be asked to fill out paperwork before being taken into our procedure room. The treatment is administered in stages, which Dr. Pace will explain before he begins.
The first step is the facial assessment and mapping. Dr. Pace will evaluate your facial appearance and skin tone and examine the areas of your face to be augmented. Strategic points on your face may be marked as the appropriate injection sites for the filler. Photographs may be taken of the areas to be treated.
Next, your skin is cleansed and anesthetized. The injection sites will be cleansed with an antibacterial agent. Pain at the injection site can be tempered by the use of a very cold instrument to chill the skin, anesthetic ointment to numb the skin, or injection of local anesthesia.
The injection usually takes only a few moments per site. The process of injecting, massaging, and evaluating the result is performed, and additional filler is added as needed. Once the results are deemed satisfactory by Dr. Pace and the patient, any markings will be cleaned off. You may be offered an ice pack to reduce swelling and alleviate discomfort.
Dermal Filler recovery
The Dermal Filler treatment is very quick and mostly pain-free. There is no downtime needed after you receive the treatment, which means you can resume normal activities right after your appointment. It is generally recommended that you avoid intense physical activity for the first 24-48 hours to minimize swelling and bruising. Be sure to discuss your specific recovery plan with Dr. Pace before scheduling your injections.
