Introduction to Neck & Chin Liposuction

Liposuction is a plastic surgery procedure that involves the literal suction of unwanted fat cells from the body. It is one of the most popular aesthetic procedures with a high global demand. While it has been used mostly for bigger areas of the body, such as the hips, abdomen, and thighs, liposuction is now used for more delicate areas. Now, with ultrafine cannulas and more precision tools, sensitive parts of the body, such as the face, neck, and chin, can also take advantage of liposuction. If you are struggling with a double chin, sagging jowls, and an undefined jawline, neck & chin liposuction might interest you. Board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Collier Pace offers neck & chin liposuction in Greensboro at his Greensboro Plastic Surgery, in addition to a spectrum of surgical and non-surgical facial and body enhancement procedures. What is Neck & Chin Liposuction?

Neck and chin liposuction is a liposuction treatment that aims to remove excess fat from the neck and chin area, eliminating sagging jowls, and the double chin. It is considered less invasive than major liposuction procedures, fast, with low recovery downtime and reduced scarring probability.

What to Expect on the Day of Neck & Chin Liposuction Surgery

On your neck & chin liposuction day, Dr. Pace and his staff will welcome you to Greensboro Plastic Surgery. They will get you settled in the surgical suite and review the surgical plan one last time in case you have any outlying questions. Once you are satisfied and ready to move forward, a board-certified anesthesiologist will administer anesthesia to help you be pain-free during the procedure.

Dr. Pace will begin your procedure by making incisions under the chin area and under both ear lobes to allow for various angles to target the fat. Then, using a very thin rod, the cannula, he will suck out all the unwanted fat. Once the suction is over, Dr. Pace will manipulate the facial elements and skin to get the desired neck & chin contour, suturing the incisions.

Finally, he will dress the wounds and put on a compression garment to keep pressure on the target area and control the swelling.

On average, without complications, the procedure takes about an hour to complete.

Neck & Chin Liposuction Recovery

Post-surgery, the staff will monitor you in the recovery room until the sedation wears off. Patients are encouraged to find a family member or friend to provide them with a ride home. Some patients may be candidates to have neck and chin liposuction performed under local anesthesia without sedation. Make sure to discuss this with Dr. Pace at your consultation.

Most patients should plan to take a week off from work and avoid any strenuous activity. Depending on the type of work, some patients will be able to return to work sooner. They should follow the post-operative instructions, including wearing the compression garment and keeping basic body movement to prevent any blood clots.
