Introduction to Nitronox

Even the most carefully planned procedures can induce nerves or anxiety. At Greensboro Plastic Surgery in North Carolina, our focus is on patient care and safety to ensure you feel comfortable and confident. For this reason, Dr. Collier Pace offers Nitronox for pain management. Nitronox immediately reduces stress, puts patients at ease, and quickly leaves the system, improving the rate of success during and after minimally invasive procedures. Please read further for more information on how Nitronox can assist you during your treatment and recovery.

What is Nitronox?

Nitronox is a medicinal gas mixture composed of 50% nitrous oxide and 50% oxygen. This sedative ensures patients receive the appropriate amount of pain relief during their procedure without putting them entirely to sleep, resulting in a longer recovery time. The method is safe, effective, and delivers immediate comfort.

What Are the Benefits of Nitronox?

Dr. Pace recommends the use of Nitronox during certain surgical procedures for the following key advantages:

  • Immediate comfort and pain relief
  • Rapid offset for recovery
  • Retaining consciousness without feeling discomfort

Who Are the Best Candidates For Nitronox?

You may be a suitable candidate to receive Nitronox if you meet the following conditions:

  • Are undergoing a minimally-invasive or non-invasive procedure
  • Prefer an alternative to general anesthesia
  • Do not have a history of allergies
  • Not currently experiencing a respiratory condition
  • Non-smoker

What to Expect From Using Nitronox During Surgery

Nitronox is a safe and effective drug that is used in lieu of stronger anesthesia during minimally invasive procedures. When you are ready to undergo treatment, you will self-administer the Nitronox via a mask or mouthpiece connected to the Nitronox device. You should feel immediate relief from pain or anxiety within one to two minutes without losing consciousness.

When your procedure is complete, you will be removed from Nitronox. Once patients stop inhaling the Nitronox, the gas mixture will leave their system within five to ten minutes. You will feel normal after the treatment.
